02Build an original solution
Students design, write, construct, test, revise, and solve it themselves.
03Take the stage
Teams present an eight-minute solution using their home-built props, crafted costumes, and ingenious mechanisms.

Spontaneous challenges test teamwork and rapid problem-solving under time pressure.
A note for families
The solution belongs to the students.
Coaches create a safe, supportive environment and ask good questions. Students do all the rest—design the solution, write (and rewrite) the script, build the props, and fix what is not working. That independence is where the learning—and the confidence—happens.
Current programs
Local teams, supported by CCC
CCC currently organizes programming at two host schools—Montgomery ES and Chamblee MS. But participation is not limited by attendance: students from other local schools have joined CCC-supported teams over the years, including Ashford Park ES, Dunwoody ES, Kittredge Magnet, and St. Martin's.
K–5th Grade
Montgomery Elementary School
Elementary students can begin with the Creative Catalyst Club, explore core OM skills, and audition for a six-month competition team.
- Grades 1–5 enrichment club
- After-school introductory sessions
- Equal balance of after-school practices and weekend collaborations.
- Long-term, spontaneous, style, and team-building instruction
Montgomery is the host school; students from nearby public and private schools are welcome to join.
6th–8th Grade
Chamblee Middle School
Middle school competition teams follow a flexible weekend-based model that supports deeper student ownership and sustained preparation.
- Up to seven students per coach
- ~13-15 weekend team collaborations + individual work
- Student-led ideas, design, construction, writing, and performance
- Coach support and tournament-readiness
Chamblee Middle is the host school; students from nearby public and private schools are welcome to join.

David Felfoldi
David’s Odyssey of the Mind journey began as a high school freshman competing in the structure problem. It came full circle in 2022, when he founded the OM program at Montgomery Elementary to fill a gap in the school’s STEAM offerings and inspire creative, collaborative, out-of-the-box thinking.
Under his leadership, Montgomery teams have consistently advanced to the Georgia State Finals and World Finals. David was inducted into the Georgia Odyssey of the Mind Coaches Hall of Fame in 2025 in recognition of his impact.
He plans to coach for many years—partly because he accidentally got his children hooked on OM when they were kindergartners.

Jennifer “Jenni” Muserallo
Jenni is a lifelong Odyssey of the Mind enthusiast who competed for four years as a student, from fifth through eighth grade. Since Montgomery Elementary’s program began, she has coached teams, led Spontaneous training, and helped build a strong foundation for creative problem-solving.
Jenni has guided teams to the Georgia State Finals for four years and watched all three of her children thrive as OM participants. Her teams’ consistently strong Spontaneous results helped earn her induction into the Georgia Odyssey of the Mind Coaches Hall of Fame in 2026.
Passionate about extending OM beyond elementary school, she also co-founded the Chamblee Middle program, where she continues to coach the next generation of creative thinkers.
2025–26 season
Local creativity on a world stage
Four CCC-supported teams advanced to the Georgia Odyssey of the Mind State Finals—placing 1st and 2nd. Students from both trainer families advanced to the international competition.
